Originally from a small town in northeast Indiana, I moved to central Florida in the fall of 2003. After graduating from Indiana Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education, I took my first teaching job as a sixth grade science teacher at Discovery Academy of Lake Alfred. Two years later, I made the leap to Ridgeview Global Studies Academy where I taught third grade for three years. In 2008, I became a Nationally Board Certified teacher and moved to fifth grade before taking on my greatest challenge of redesigning RGSA’s Global Studies class.
It has been an exciting trek thus far and I look forward to many more wonderful years of cultural exploration. I obtained a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in technology from Grand Canyon University in the summer of 2012. I was incredibly honored to be named the 2011-2012 Ridgeview Teacher of the Year and first runner-up for the Polk Country
Charter School Association.
At Ridgeview I wear many hats. Not only do I teach all students
in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, but I am also the sponsor of the fifth grade student Ambassadors, co-creator of the annual yearbook, campus coordinator of the Pasta for Pennies Program, and you will see me every afternoon getting everyone ready for car riders.
In my free time, I must admit that I am tech junkie. I love playing on my iPad, watching movies, hanging out with friends and going to theme parks. This part year, I started doing short 5K races. I'm still not immensely the fastest human on planet, but I am having a lot of fun in the process. Looking forward to some more races this year so I can improve my "speed." I love to travel as well. There are so many places on my list of locations I would like to visit! I am greatly looking forward to going on my first Disney Cruise this year!
